FMIPA UGM Holds “Fundurance MIPA 71 Ride” to Mark Its 71st Anniversary

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) celebrated its 71st anniversary on Saturday (17/10/2026) by hosting the Fundurance Mipa 71 Ride, a fun endurance cycling event that brought together academics, alumni, and local cycling communities.

Registration for the event opened on August 17, 2026, drawing high enthusiasm from participants. Prior to flag-off, riders gathered for an opening prayer led by organizers to ensure a safe journey.

The event was officially inaugurated by FMIPA UGM Dean Prof. Dr.-Ing. Mhd. Reza M. I. Pulungan, S.Si., M.Sc., who expressed gratitude for the strong turnout. RC Chair Uha Isnaini, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D. also delivered a briefing emphasizing road safety rules and group riding protocols.

Participants took on a scenic “Temple-to-Temple” route, starting from the FMIPA UGM campus and rolling past several historic cultural landmarks, including Sari Temple, Plaosan Temple, and Kedulan Temple.

The event’s smooth execution relied on multi-agency coordination. Campus security personnel (PK5L/PK4L) managed route escorts, while the Gadjah Mada Medical Center (GMC) provided on-site first aid and medical support. Logistics and bike transport teams also supported the peloton throughout the journey. The ride concluded at Vrata Hotel, where participants gathered for a fellowship lunch, social networking session, and doorprize drawing.

Beyond bringing the FMIPA UGM community closer together and promoting an active lifestyle, the event also supported the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through group cycling, the event contributed to SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by promoting physical fitness and mental well-being. The use of bicycles as an eco-friendly mode of transportation also supported SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and SDG 13 (Climate Action) by encouraging low-emission mobility. Meanwhile, collaboration among the academic community, medical teams, security personnel, and corporate sponsors reflected the spirit of SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
