FMIPA UGM Holds Skills 2 Work Program with the Mien R Uno Foundation, Strengthening Students’ Soft Skills for Career Preparation

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held a Skills 2 Work program in collaboration with the Mien R Uno Foundation. The event was conducted offline on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB) at the RJMT Soehakso Auditorium, FMIPA UGM. The event opened with remarks from Prof. Drs. Roto, M.Eng., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs at FMIPA UGM, and Suryani Indahsari, Executive Director of the Mien R Uno Foundation.

Skills 2 Work is a program aimed at preparing students and recent graduates in STEM fields to enter the workforce. The program featured Kurnia Tri Utami, S.Psi., Psychologist, as the speaker. During the session, Ms. Kurnia provided participants with insights into the skills needed in the workplace.

In addition to the presentation session, Skills 2 Work provided participants with opportunities to explore their potential more deeply through interactive sessions and discussions. Participants were encouraged to identify and write down their personal values, followed by discussions and sharing sessions among participants about the values they possess.

Participants also received a worksheet containing reflections on their experiences throughout their university studies. They were then asked to identify three aspects of these experiences: challenges, contributions, and the skills they used. Participants subsequently worked in groups to discuss the results of their analysis, which were then presented to the other participants.

The Skills 2 Work program organized by FMIPA UGM and the Mien R Uno Foundation also supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, by enhancing students’ potential in career preparation through regular training and mentoring.
