Rector of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) Inaugurates FMIPA Innovations at Alumni Gathering of KAMIPAGAMA

Rector of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) Prof. dr. Ova Emilia, M.Med.Ed., Sp.OG(K), Ph.D., inaugurated several research-based innovations developed by the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) UGM during the faculty’s alumni gathering on Saturday, September 19. The event took place at the FMIPA UGM Guesthouse as part of the faculty’s 71st anniversary celebrations, which carried the theme “Indonesia’s Future Lies in Science and Technology.”

FMIPA UGM Dean Prof. Dr. Eng. Kuwat Triyana, M.Si., introduced several innovations that grew out of research and collaboration with external partners. The exhibition showed how research at the faculty has been turned into innovations that address practical needs beyond the academic environment.

The event also brought together alumni from different generations to catch up on recent developments at FMIPA UGM. They could look at research and innovations that had grown out of collaborations with various partners. 

The gathering also featured a discussion titled “Science and Technology, Does It Still Matter to UGM?” The session looked at the role of science and technology in UGM’s development and how they could respond to future needs.

The gathering formed part of the events marking FMIPA UGM’s 71st anniversary. It brought together alumni and members of the academic community to share updates on education, research and innovation at the faculty.

The development and introduction of research-based innovations also support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 9 on Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure and SDG 17 on Partnerships for the Goals. By connecting research with practical needs and external collaboration, FMIPA UGM continues to build links between academic research, innovation, and broader societal needs.
