FMIPA UGM Welcomes Visit from University of Technology Sydney: Discusses Partnership Agenda Plans

The University of Technology Sydney conducted a visit to FMIPA UGM represented by Prof. Willia Huston and Prof. Alana Ammit on Thursday, 22nd February 2024, at the FMIPA UGM Meeting Room. The purpose of this visit was to establish formal relations and introduce the profiles of each faculty in the field of science.

Prof. Drs. Roto, M.Eng., Ph.D., as the Vice Dean for Education, Teaching, and Student Affairs along with Dr. Fajar Adi Kusumo, S.Si., M.Si., as the Vice Dean for Alumni Affairs, Cooperation, and Innovation at FMIPA UGM, welcomed the presence and the initiation of cooperation. Dr. Roto and Dr. Fajar also provided an overview of the profile of FMIPA UGM along with its international-scale activities.

“We have established collaborations with various campuses such as the University of Birmingham, National Central University Taiwan, University of Twente, and others. FMIPA UGM also engages in innovative research with these campus partners,” said Dr. Roto.

“So, we want to create research collaborations between Indonesia and Australia,” said Prof. Ammit.

Additionally, both parties also discussed available scholarships such as government scholarships that will support students.

“Government scholarships are not only for master’s and doctoral programs but also for research for a few months,” said Dr. Wahyono, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Electronics at FMIPA UGM.

Several research outcomes were also presented as information on research fields produced, such as drones, x-rays, and artificial intelligence products developed by FMIPA UGM.

From the agenda of the visit, FMIPA UGM also supports SDGs point 4 regarding quality education through scholarship partnerships from each university. Additionally, FMIPA UGM welcomes educational institutions in partnerships to achieve goals in the advancement of education in accordance with SDGs point 17.

Visit of MAN 2 Tulungagung to FMIPA UGM: Directing Students in Understanding Self-Competence for Specialization in Science Subjects at School

MAN 2 Tulungagung visited FMIPA UGM on Thursday, Feb 22nd, 2024. The visit was warmly received by Sugeng Triyono, S.Si., M.Si., a Chemistry lecturer at FMIPA UGM and also a resource person providing information about UGM and FMIPA UGM. Students and teachers received information regarding the list of study programs, alumni networks, university admission procedures, faculty facilities, student career support programs, and more. Additionally, there was a Q&A session aimed at providing insights or new information for both FMIPA and the students and teachers.

“I am delighted to visit FMIPA UGM. The material presented is in line with what I expected, which is to provide insights and motivation to students as they choose subjects according to their interests,” said Yayuk Winarti, S.Si., M.Pd., Deputy Head of School at MAN 2 Tulungagung.

Sugeng guided the students to recognize their capabilities so they could choose specializations in the subjects they would take.

“Like wearing clothes, if I wear your size, it definitely won’t fit. Conversely, if you wear my clothes, they will be too big. So, recognize your abilities and make choices in selecting subjects at school,” said Sugeng.

From the school visit conducted, FMIPA UGM also supports SDGs point 4 regarding quality education by increasing students’ motivation to continue their education at the tertiary level and providing guidance according to their interests and talents. Additionally, FMIPA UGM welcomes educational institutions in partnerships to achieve goals in the advancement of education by SDGs point 17.

FMIPA UGM Welcomes Khon Kaen University Visit: Discusses Partnership Agenda

Khon Kaen University from Thailand conducted a visit to the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), represented by Dr. Sukhum Ruangchai, Assistant to the Dean for International Affairs and Public Communications, on Wednesday, Feb 21st, 2024, at the FMIPA UGM Meeting Room. The purpose of this visit was to establish formal relations and introduce the profiles of each faculty in the field of science.

“We have various international programs. One of them is the KKU ASEAN-GMS (Khon Kaen University Scholarship for ASEAN and GMS Countries’ Personnel), which is open to prospective master’s and doctoral students at our university,” said Dr. Sukhum.

Dr. Fajar Adi Kusumo, S.Si., M.Si., as the Vice Dean for Alumni Affairs, Cooperation, and Innovation at FMIPA UGM, welcomed the presence and the initiation of cooperation. Dr. Fajar also presented an overview of the profile of FMIPA UGM along with its international-scale activities.

“Students need to gain international experiences. They also need to be involved in research activities,” said Dr. Fajar.

The introduction of each faculty focused on profiles, facilities, research, and innovation outcomes, as well as programs supporting student and faculty activities. With this, each party can get to know more closely the information needed regarding studies in the field of science.

From the existing agenda of the visit, FMIPA UGM also supported SDGs point 4 on quality education through scholarship partnerships from each university. Additionally, FMIPA UGM welcomed educational institutions in partnerships to achieve goals in the advancement of education by SDGs point 17.
