Google Faculty Research Award

Google Research Awards are one-year awards structured as unrestricted gifts to universities to support the work of world-class full-time faculty members at top universities around the world. Faculty members can apply for Research Awards by submitting a proposal to one of our two 2014 funding rounds. Our 2014 deadlines are April 15 and October 15. Recipients are selected through a comprehensive internal review process and notified of their awards within 4 months of the initial submission. Faculty members can apply for up to 150,000 USD in eligible expenses, but actual award amounts are frequently less than the full amount requested. Most awards are funded at the amount needed to support basic expenses for one graduate student for one year.

Beasiswa

For students who have achieved good academic performance, especially those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, there are learning grants available in the form of scholarships or service obligations.

Scholarships or service obligations are awarded to students who are at least in their second year of studies and have a minimum GPA of 2.5.

The types of scholarships and service obligations, along with the number of FMIPA UGM students who have received them during the period from 2000 to 2006, are as follows:

Kegiatan Kemahasiswaan

The student activities referred to are those of a curricular nature, and in general, student activities at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) UGM can be categorized as follows:

  1. Activities in the Field of Reasoning.
  2. Activities in the Field of Interests/Talents.
  3. Activities in the Field of Welfare.

SEMA, BEM, KM, and all HIMAPRODI are required to prepare a student activity plan at the beginning of the fiscal year for one year, from July to June of the following year.

Activities in the Field of Reasoning include:

  1. Institutional Research.
  2. Academic Seminars.
  3. Innovative Product Creation Competitions.
  4. Main Knowledge Work Competitions.
  5. Student Technology Innovation Competitions.
  6. Essay Competitions.
  7. Math, Physics, Chemistry Quiz Competitions among High School Students.
  8. Selection/Appointment of Outstanding Students.
  9. Selection of Department Student Family Executives.
  10. Selection of Student Representative Council and Student Senate Executives.
  11. Student Creativity Programs.
  12. Mathematics and Physics Olympiads.

Activities in the Field of Interests/Talents include:

  1. Art Activities: singing, dancing, music, and martial arts.
  2. Sports Activities: soccer, badminton, tennis, volleyball, basketball, martial arts, etc.
  3. Skills Activities: photography and electronics.
  4. Special Activities: scouting, student regiment (MENWA), nature lovers, etc.
  5. Other Activities: beyond 1, 2, 3, and 4.

Activities in the Field of Welfare include:

  1. Student Cooperatives: dormitories/boarding houses, book markets.
  2. Student Clinics.
  3. Student Cafeterias.
  4. Student Magazines: bulletins, wall magazines.
  5. Scholarships/learning grants.
  6. Commemoration of national/religious holidays.
  7. Publication of books/course materials.

Activities in the Field of Reasoning are mainly handled and managed by the Department Student Families and Program Study Student Associations, while Activities in the Field of Interests/Talents and Welfare are organized by the Student Senate with planning patterns prepared by the Student Executive Board.

  2. Senat Mahasiswa (SEMA)
  3. Keluarga Mahasiswa Fisika (KMF)
  4. Keluarga Mahasiswa Kimia (KMK)
  5. Himpunan Mahasiswa Matematika (HIMATIKA)
  6. Himpunan Mahasiswa Statistika (HIMASTA)
  7. HimpunanMahasiswa Ilmu Komputer (HIMAKOM)
  8. Himpunan Mahasiswa Geofisika (HMGF)
  9. Himpunan Mahasiswa Elektronika dan Instrumentasi (HMEI)
  10. Komunitas Fisika Gadjah Mada (KFGAMA)

The officers of these student organizations are selected from, by, and for the students of the Faculty (in the case of BEM and SEMA) or the students of specific departments (for KMF and KMK) or the students of specific study programs (for HIMATIKA, HIMASTA, HIMAKOM, HMGF, HMEI, KFGAMA).

The organization of elections and the composition of the Student Executive Board (BEM) and Student Senate (SEMA) of the Faculty at Gadjah Mada University are held once a year for each leadership period.

The BEM consists of 6 officials, while SEMA consists of 7 officials, officially inaugurated by the Dean of the Faculty on behalf of the Rector of UGM.

The operational tasks of BEM and SEMA are the implementation of the Almamater Vision, which includes:

  1. Institutionalization, emphasizing the importance of students as components of the University to maintain the image of the University Faculty as Almamater.
  2. Transpolitization, providing guidance to students not to engage in practical politics, thus ensuring the unity and cohesion of students as members of society.
  3. Professionalization, providing an understanding that students need to have a solid theoretical foundation and adequate skills in their chosen field of study.

The organization of elections and the composition of student organizations at the department/program level or Student Family of the Department are regulated independently by the respective department/program as long as it does not conflict with faculty/university regulations. The policy on student activities at the faculty level is determined by the Student Executive Board (BEM) and the Student Senate (SEMA). Departmental and/or Program Student Families are responsible for managing student activities primarily related to the academic and professional field.
