Summer Course in Coding Theory & Cryptography

Modern cryptology is currently at the confluence of two major streams in science, mathematics, and computing. The first stream is the projected arrival of quantum computing technologies at a scale which is large enough to render the current cryptographic standards insecure. Massive engineering challenges remain to be solved before we reach such an era. The community, however, has been embarking in the tasks of designing and rigorously testing quantum-secure cryptographic protocols. Most candidates rely on intractable problems in coding theory, lattices, hash functions, or multilinear maps. A close scrutiny on their respective theory and deployments, both in softwares and hardwares, provides diverse topics of possible research directions to pursue. Many of them will be long-term enough for PhD research work and for an institute-wide effort as well as regional or international collaboration.

  About

Mathematics and Natural Sciences faculty library, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), was established in 1950 in Mangkubumen Yogyakarta as Physics library. In 1960 the library moved to Sekip Unit III and was renamed as Natural Science faculty library. Starting from December 28, 1982 the library has become Mathematics and Natural Sciences faculty library.

Opening hours

Mondays – Thursdays         : 08.00 – 15.00 (12.00 – 13.00 break time)

Fridays                                    : 08.00 – 14.30 (11.00 13.00 break time)

Saturdays                                : 08.00 – 12.00

To be a library member, students must present their student cards and fill in the form. Please see the staff in information desk for the membership.

  1. Circulation Services

We provide services for borrowing and returning collections in the circulation area. The circulation service is only applied for UGM students and staff who are already members of the library. We provide computers to search our collections. The circulation service uses an integrated library system (SIPUS) at UGM. Our members from Mathematics and Natural Sciences faculty can borrow up to 5 books during the period of 2 weeks and can be renewed once. Students from other faculties at UGM can borrow 1 book during the period of 3 days.

  1. Reading rooms

We provide reading rooms consist of study rooms for both groups and individuals.

  1. Repository Room

We provide a repository room to access our digital collections including undergraduate papers and master/PhD theses/dissertations collections by using Eprints software. These collections can only be accessed from the library.

  1. Theses/dissertations room

We provide a room to access our printed theses collections during the last 5 years, by using our computers. The collections can only be accessed in the library.

  1. Final theses Submission for Graduation

For our faculty students who will prepare for their graduation, they are required to submit their final papers (undergraduate, master and PhD theses/dissertations) to the library. For undergraduate papers, they must be submitted in printed form as well as soft copy in a CD. For master and doctoral theses/dissertations, they must be submitted only in soft copy (CD). The library will provide a receipt for those who have submitted their final work.
